Biography

My name is Ginger. I know, I know, I don't even look like a ginger colored kitty. So why the name? I dunno, I guess my original Mom just liked the name or something. I do have ginger-flecks in my fur, does that count? My Poppa's name is Fred, does that count?

My birthday is celebrated on May 16 and I was definitely born in 1999 -- the Spring of.

I didn't always live where I do now. I spent the first few months of my life living with a really nice lady that worked with my Momma. The nice lady had to give me up and asked my Momma if she knew anybody that could give me a good home.

My Momma and Poppa lived with my two sisters in an apartment about three miles from where we are now. There was a neighbor right next door that really wanted to have a kitty so it was decided that I would go live there. The new man immediately left young little me outside and deemed me an indoor/outdoor kitty. Which would have been ok I guess if he had let me in...at all...even sometimes...or left food and water for me. So I lived outside. It was Fall and the Fall here in Oregon is cold. And wet. I would see what would become my Momma. Every time she would come outside I would ruuuuun to her just as fast as my little feet would carry me. She always checked on my water and food bowl on the other deck and they were always empty. I was cold and hungry and lonely. It didn't take long before Momma made me a cozy box on her own deck and lined it with polar-fleece. My Momma would put food and water out for me. She was the bestest cook and would put the yummiest crunchy bites out. Often my Momma would sit outside and hold me. I loved helping her take the trash out to the garbage area or to go down and get mail because I could ride up high on Momma's shoulder. I would balance there and sometimes stick my butt in her ear. On Saturday mornings or any other time I could hear my new Momma in her apartment, I would hang off of her window screen and just yowl my little head off. New Momma wanted to bring me in and keep me, I could tell. But she was worried what new Poppa would say and what my new sisters would do to me.

Finally one day, after maybe one month of watching me live on her deck, Momma brought me in the apartment! Woo hoo warmth! Aiiieeeee my new sisters did not like me.

My new Momma waited and waited for the man next door to say anything about me at all but he never ever did. I guess I'm a stolen kitty. I've been here since the winter of '99 though and I love it here a lot.

So anyway, that's my start in life. Now I live in a house in the 'burbs with my two sisters and my Momma and Poppa. I get spoiled a lot by Momma.

I have all the creature comforts in life and now I even have this website.

Purrs:
My Momma's lap; my blankie; crunchy goodness treats; $21.99/lb maguro minced thankyouverymuch; sleeping on top the tv, sleeping on my Momma's legs, sleeping on my Poppa's legs -- preferrably while they're in bed; gnawing on my Poppa's hand.

Hisses:
The vacuum cleaner; the leaf blower; my sisters; clicky-flash thing; having my tail touched unless it's my Momma.
